5 inches thick and this little saw has cut them with no problem
I give it 5 stars because I canot judge the battery life or product lifespan yet
You have to be careful and follow the instructions to tension and lubricate the chain, but as long as you donot overuse it, it's a solid little tool
I also think it's great that you included an extra battery and chain with the item
However, the description states that one of the two is already installed
